Summary: Beautiful and Fun
Comment: My 18 month old girls have never been to interested in coloring with good ol' Crayola. They don't apply the pressure necessary to bring the color out on paper. We received our Amos Crayons yesterday and they honestly sat in their high chairs and colored page after page for an hour! When I took the crayons away for dinner they were not happy. First thing this morning they were reaching for the set. The colors are rich and glide on with the slightest pressure. Fortunately, they are non-toxic and water soluble. Their high chair trays are stained a bit (yellow, for some reason, is very intense). Aside from that, clean up on fingers, faces, and sleeves was no big deal. With younger children I will definitely recommend supervision which you won't mind providing because you will be enjoying this play time as much as the little ones.

Comment: Anybody bored with crayons? These silky ones are killer, an order of magnitude apart. They are like oil paint in how they look on paper: deep, vibrant, lucious colors, without the mess or toxicity, plus they're on a stick. Easy handling, two-year-olds can make scribble-scrabbles of beauty. There's no upper age limit, virtually everybody likes these things: the little little ones feel very grown up using them, the older kids love the intensity of color and ease of application, as do the adults. And there's nothing better when the kids want you to do pictures with them. I'm bored out of my skull with most of the kid art supplies: cheaply make, washed-out colors or ho-hum primary colors, or so freakin' messy that I don't even want to set up. But these will get me happily ensconced at the art table, indefinately, especially since we got a paper roll and I have taken to using it to make wrapping paper by making designs or mandalas or geometric shapes or whatever, then coloring them in-with these silky crayons it's fast and surprisingly beautiful. The 24 color case is a gift I give regularly to kids of all ages, and it and ends up being their favorite art supply. One word on the mess factor: while they are mostly unmessy, there is a slight smudge quality to them (lovely effect on the paper) such that with the younger kids a smock, a post art hand wash, and an adult eye kept on the proceedings is a good idea.
